They say that social media sites like Facebook make it easier for men and women to cheat on their partners because they can make discreet plans easier.
But it appears that scorned lovers are now hitting back - and using the networks to expose their cheating boyfriends and girlfriends.
Increasingly, people are using status updates to announce that a partner has done the dirty on them to their family and friends.
Many decide to take action after browsing their partner's private messages on the site and discovering they have using it to send love letters. For others that have photographic evidence, they upload the pictures for everyone to see.
Some unsuspecting Facebook users actually get exposed by the cheating man or woman's spouse, who attacks them in a public note on their profile page.
